Description:

To verify and confirm that the Project Charter meets the specified requirements, thus enabling the detection of defects early in the project’s life cycle.  Peer reviews are methodical examinations of work products performed by the Work Product Owner’s peer SMEs to identify defects and assure completeness and correctness of the work products.

The less formal type of peer review is in which the Reviewers perform a review of the work product and communicate the review feedback through e-mail or the identified review tool.  Peer Review Meeting is not conducted.

Task Instructions:

     Prepare for Project Charter Peer Review

    1. Using the Project Charter document, [the Project Manager] is responsible for ensuring that the current version of the Project Charter is ready for review by verifying its completeness.
    2. Using the Project Charter Peer Review Request Template and the Current Version of the Project Charter, [the Project Manager] is responsible for requesting a Preliminary Project Plan Peer Review from [the PMO QA]
    3. Using the Current Version of the Project Charter, [the Project Manager] with support from the [the PMO QA] is responsible for identifying the appropriate reviewers for reviewers.
      • The [PMO QA] and [Project Manager] need to identify the appropriate Reviewers for reviewing the Project Charter, based on the expertise required and schedule by when the review has to be conducted. [The PMO QA] and [the Project Manager] need to choose the appropriate SMEs and request them to conduct a review of the Project Charter. [The PMO QA] needs to get the Reviewer’s commitment to review the Project Charter and set the expectation for the Review closure date.

    4. Using the Current Version of the Project Charter, [the Project Manager], with support from the [the PMO QA] is responsible for preparing the document for review, by adding line numbers and creating a new version.
    5. Using the Project Charter Peer Review Invitation Meeting Template, [the Project Manager], with support from [the PMO QA] is responsible for preparing the document.
      • [The PMO QA] and [the Project Manager] need to define objectives and identify the focus for the identified reviewers.

        [The PMO QA] needs to schedule the Review by communicating the roles of each Reviewer and the date for completion of the Review.

    6. Using the Project Charter Peer Review Meeting Document and the New Project Charter Version, [the PMO QA] is responsible for requesting a Project Charter Peer Review.
